Our Story

HR Girlfriends ~ Est. 2013

A Bit Of History

WHAT WAS ONCE AN UNOFFICIAL GROUP OF FEMALE HR PROFESSIONALS, IS NOW A DYNAMIC HR COMMUNITY MEETING THE EVER-CHANGING NEEDS OF OUR MEMBERS.

HR Girlfriends™ was started in November 2010 as a meetup.com group. The original name of the group was called HR Professional Girlfriends. After the original creator of the group found herself too busy to run the group she passed the baton. With the change in leadership, the name was shortened to HR Girlfriends.

In March 2013 the baton was passed yet again to Sana’ Walker, who has taken HR Girlfriends in a new and exciting direction.

Meet Sana' Walker

Sana’ Walker is the President & Chief Girlfriend of HR Girlfriends, a Human Resources organization dedicated to advancing the practice and culture of people empowerment. Her team of Girlfriends consult, train, educate, develop, share, promote and advocate for solutions in the field of human resource management. Sana’ is also a credentialed Career Strategist, at TheCareerHelpDesk.com, where she has helped professionals across all industries create a next level career plan, negotiate compensation and develop strategies to land the job, not just the interview.

Giving Back

Our very own Chief Girlfriend, Sana’ Walker was raised in the New York City foster care system. Throughout her childhood, she was fortunate enough to be raised by multiple foster parents who allowed her to thrive and blossom into the woman she is today. Sana’ attributes her resiliency and quality of life to the generosity and guidance of those who gave of themselves, even when they didn’t have to.

Unfortunately, there are over 400K foster children in the U.S. that do not have access to their basic needs or reasonable desires most children hold. Sana’ is committed to ensuring that no foster child is left behind.

HR Girlfriends is a proud sponsor of One Simple Wish, a non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the simple wishes of foster children in need. It doesn’t take much to make a difference. Donate a pair of eyeglasses so a child can see the chalkboard, sponsor a foster child’s first experience at a restaurant or fund a rising senior’s college application fees.
